I got to be one of the lucky early readers for NautiCal, a Forever Wilde novel. I love all of Lucy's books, and I've read every single one; if her name is on the cover, I buy the book.NautiCal is the final book in the Forever Wilde Series. The book's title is a pun, that should help explain the absolute humor of the book. Cal, short for Calgary, not Calvin…it’s a Wilde Family tradition to name their children after cities in Canada. So anyway, back to the pun title. Cal is a big sailing fan and is a licensed ship captain and certified SCUBA instructor; therefore, he’s nautical…NautiCal. See what she did there?Pros: The absolute best writing so that it draws in the reader Good story flow with great pacingWide range of characters with distinct personalitiesEngaging story lineLittle to no typos or gaps in the plotPlenty of humor! Seriously LOL momentsLots of MM romanceCons (This is tougher since I don't do spoilers):One character is a cheater (it’s in the blurb, not a spoiler) and is hard to like but cheating on a significant other isn't my favorite thingThere were lots of nautical (duh) terms in the story, but I sometimes I got thrown out of my headspace because I wasn't familiar with sailing termsLucy Lennox knows how to tell a story. Period. She has a way of making characters seem real and the story endearing. That's one reason I'm such a fan of her work. Her world-building is spot on as well.You could read this book without reading the others, but where's the fun in that? Her Made Marian series and this one are related and in the same Universe. The Wildes and the Marians are related as well, so starting with Barrowing Blue, Made Marian, Book One will be a treat.If you don't want to invest in all the books (which I get, but it's totally worth the investment) Facing West is the first book in the Forever Wilde series.NautiCal is now my go-to book to reread when I need a story to take my mind off real life for a while.
